Three Short Years
Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 10:39AM This month marks my third year at Cornerstone Cellars.
I remember when Allison first started working at our tasting room. I was waiting tables at Hurley’s Restaurant just across the street. Wanting to help a friend who had recently moved to Napa, I began giving my tables complimentary wine tasting cards for this little tasting room just down the road. When she and Craig approached me with a part time position in the tasting room in October of 2009, I eagerly accepted. While Hurley’s was providing my bread, butter, and daily family meal, the chance to get more involved in the wine industry could not be passed up. My first year at Cornerstone was spent helping to build the tasting room -literally constructing shelves- learning about the wines, and discovering how to best help our loyal customers and fans.
Spring of 2011 ushered in a significant change for me within the wine industry for this marked the beginning of my full time career. The transition over was obvious to me as soon as the topic was broached. I have always had a passion for culinary arts. Wine was something I gained interest in while in college. Growing up in Napa wine was something in the background -my family has no ties to the wine industry-, which then blossomed into a significant part of my restaurant career. The confluence of these facets of my life resulted in my current role being absolutely ideal.
In this last year and a half I have had the fortune to better know Cornerstone’s wines, history, people, production, and what makes us unique in a landscape full of an inexhaustible amount of choice. Its simple really. Passion is what drives us. Jeff’s passion to create some of the best wines Napa Valley has to offer. Craig’s passion and vision to take the winery to new heights. Tony’s passion to craft incredible pinot noir and chardonnay in Oregon. Allison’s passion to get to know each and every one of our wine club members. Our tasting room’s passion to provide you with the best experience in Yountville. My passion to make sure our wines are in your favorite restaurants and wine shops across the country. Our company’s passion to always connect with our customers. There are many wines to choose from. Be passionate about what you drink.
