Alex on the Road: San Diego Round 2

I just returned from my second adventure into San Diego. Much like my first sojourn, this trip was an absolute blast. I was on hand to get to know our broker, R&R Wine Marketing, and the San Diego market better. Rob, Bill, Wes, and Steven are great guys to work with. Rosie and Jamie do a fantastic job on the back end ensuring everything runs smoothly.

The day started off early, 8 a.m. on Southwest out of Oakland. Landing an hour-and-a-half later I was greeted by bright sun and a warm sea breeze. Rob had an entire day planned for me. One of the highlights was Iowa Meat Farms. This speciality meat market had one of the best selections I have ever seen. They will give any Napa store a run for their money and will soon be stocking 2009 Stepping Stone Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009 Stepping Stone Syrah, and 2007 Cornerstone Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.  The Fishery was another great place we visited. Not only do they have an incredible fresh fish counter, they also now carry the 2009 Stepping Stone Syrah by the glass!

My next trip to San Diego will be in early March. Its going to be a very busy weekend. Starting off with a drive to Palm Desert, Steve and I will visit a number of accounts in the Palm Springs area. Friday March 9th we have a winemaker dinner scheduled for Roy’s Restaurant in La Jolla. Jeff will be flying down for the event, ensuring a fun night. On Sunday the 11th I will be pouring at Family Winemakers in Del Mar. I hope you in the San Diego area are able to come out to the events. Its going to be a fun weekend with plenty of Cornerstone wines!
